My Ecletic Thailand

These elephant farm photos were taken on my first visit to the Kingdom of Thailand in 1990

The elephant looked at me and at the thin young lady next to me and decided it was she who would be riding.

This street vender in Chiang Mai is hardly visible behind all the stuffed animals. He is carying all this on his back.

Umbrella painter in Chiang Mai. This was in the crafts village sponsered by the Royal family.

This young man was the inspiration for the short story "The Paradise Complex". He was in the company of a German gent about 40tyish. I know nothing whatever about the young man except we played some checkers and I liked all the tattoos. The story is the purest of fiction. The life guard tower can be seen here in the background and the other side of the fence is the Patong Beach Bungalos hotel fetured in the story. The white building in the background is the T.A.T. (Tourist Police) headquarters.

This young man is the real Puiaw. He is not at all the subject of the story except he works behind the bar at the Cabin Boy (Young Shark Agogo). I borrowed his name because it sounded unusual and distincly Thai to my un-trained ear.
